The purpose of this manifesto is to show how women simplify their voice and sacrifice their message to come across as softer’ and ‘nicer’ in an email.
My intended audience is women, specifically those who are working toward leadership roles. I chose to write this manifesto in a satirical fashion, from the point of view of a woman telling another woman how to ‘properly’ write an email as a woman. In doing so, it emphasizes that the use of language in this way can truly impact the way the recipients internalize the message. Women sacrifice their intellect and strong voice in fear they sound too assertive, demanding, or aggressive. Though there is much more to the issue than how women write the email, this is a step in the right direction.
